This movie is not awful but guys don't bother watching this film. It really sucks from a man's man viewpoint. And, it sucks to high heaven.
I am generally a big fan of Harrison Ford. For most chick flick type of movies that my wife will watch, I usually can tolerate them if Harrison Ford happens to be in them. Case in point: Sabrina (1995), Random Hearts (1999), Working Girl (1988). Okay, I can't stand those films more or less. However, Ford makes them tolerable.
Let us not forget that we define a "chick flick" differently on CoolFilmz.com. We are more into it from the dude's perspective. We look for a flick that has some morsel of manly entertainment (e.g., explosions, nudity, fisticuffs, etc.) and yet our better-halves are enthralled as well. Such movies are few and far between. This one, widens the theoretical gap.
Ford plays a TV anchorman. Rachel Adams is the cute, lightweight producer who must turn the show around. Ford's character is dire and morose. The ever chipper and melting wax candle Diane Keaton is thrown in for good measure. A semi-clothed Rachel Adams is probably the most enjoyable aspect of this movie.
The whole thought that this movie could be about real media is a laughable one. Although, to the film's credit, it didn't pretend to be anything more than light-hearted, flimflam. I would get into the plot details, but I dozed off for a good bit in the middle of Morning Glory. When I awoke toward the end, I didn't seem to have missed anything crucial. If you must sit through this chick flick, you will live. However, you will be better served to find another one entirely.
